Paro Spring Festival

Group Festival Tour
Duration: 7 nights / 8 days
Overview
Thuktro Tours presents two well-attended festivals of Bhutan: Paro
Tshechu in spring and Jampa Temple Consecration in late autumn/fall.
The two seasons are the best time to plan your vacations in Bhutan. As
Bhutan is a largely farming population, the two festivals are observed
during the leisure time before and after the farming cycle. Local devotees
and international guests converge at the two spectacular events like
nowhere else.
The 5-day Paro Tshechu festival features sacred dances performed by
monks in the courtyard of the historic Paro dzong (fortress). Expressions of
an enlightened mind, the sacred dances of Bhutan are powerful medium of
imparting Buddhist teachings of impermanence, cause & effect (karma / lay
judray), compassion and wisdom to laypeople.
The featured Tshechu festival is a much-anticipated event on the Bhutanese
calendar. It is an annual event for the locals across Bhutan to pay homage
to the founding saint Guru Padmasambhava. Besides spirituality, Tshechu is
a social occasion to flaunt and flirt, cement relations, make memories and
share delicacies with loved ones.
The 252 km overland journey explores distinct and diverse cultural ethos
and narratives of three valleys of Punakha, Thimphu and Paro that form the
tapestry of the kingdom’s rich and unique identity. The journey completes
with hike to Taktshang or “Tiger’s Nest” Monastery in Paro valley, the most
spectacular pilgrimage in the Himalayan Buddhist world.
